"Isuzu KB Series KB300D"

A lot of effort has been put into reducing noise and vibration in the new Isuzu. There's limited road noise and wind howl and the general refinement is quite decent. The large, four-cylinder engine reveals the workhorse beneath with a whooshy sound at speed and a diesel-like tremble at idle.

The KB has a rugged, solid feel, like it wouldn't flinch at being rushed over a pothole-pocked farm road, or having bags of cement thrown into its double-skinned load box.

What surprised me most was this bakkie's plush ride, even unladen. The handling's clean and forgiving and it lacks the hoppy back end of some bakkies when their load box is empty.
